Itinerary
Upon your arrival in New Delhi, a warm welcome awaits you. In the evening, you have two choices for your departure to Jammu: you can either opt for a flight or choose to board an overnight train.
After enjoying your breakfast, you can set out for a day of sightseeing in Jammu. The city boasts a collection of remarkable temples, museums, and fortresses. Noteworthy havelis and palaces like Mubarak Mandi Mahal, Amar Mahal, Panch Peer, and Bahu Fort are truly worth exploring. Your entire day will be dedicated to these sightseeing activities. Around 6 pm, you have the option to hire a taxi to transport you to Katra. Once in Katra, you will check into a hotel for your accommodation.
On the following early morning, after a refreshing bath and dressed in clean attire, with a heart and soul full of purity, you commence your trek towards the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. The journey spans 13 kilometers uphill, leading to the highest point where the shrine is situated. For those who face challenges with the rugged path, options like palanquins or horses are available. Along the route to the shrine lies the sacred cave known as 'Ardhkuwari', where legend has it that Mata Vaishno Devi meditated for a period of nine months. This cave is located approximately 6 kilometers from Katra.
After covering around 9.5 kilometers of your trek, you will encounter a resting point called 'Sanjhi Chhat'. Take a break here to rest before resuming your journey towards the 'Bhawan'. The expedition is demanding, testing your endurance and determination. Despite the fatigue and weariness, the sense of tiredness vanishes upon reaching the Bhawan. Upon arrival at the Bhawan, present your Yatra slip and receive your lot number, which facilitates an organized and systematic Darshan of the Mata. Once your Darshan is complete, you will make your way back to Katra.
Arrange for a taxi to travel to Jammu. From there, you can return to Delhi either by taking a flight or considering alternatives like a bus or train journey from Jammu to Delhi. Having experienced profound spiritual satisfaction and with a heart filled with devotion, the journey to Vaishno Devi concludes at this point.
